The evaluation unit in the CGIAR Advisory Services manages and supports external evaluations which aim to provide accountability, support to decision making, and lessons for improving quality and effectiveness of agricultural research for development outcomes (reduction of poverty; improving food security; improving nutrition and health; and the sustainable management of natural resources).

The evaluation unit of CGIAR Advisory Services develops, in consultation with CGIAR Centers, program and platform staff, and the System Organization, a cost-effective multi-year evaluation work plan and implements the plan in a manner that meets the CGIAR System’s need for rigorous high quality independent evaluations to inform decision making across the System.  The unit also serves as a quality assurance mechanism for System-wide independent program and other on-demand evaluations that are to be undertaken by externally commissioned evaluators.
